Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami,
Florida on November 30, 1977. He is an American electro house artist recording
producer, D.J. Music executive. He is the third child of Chizuru and Rocky
Aoki's children. His father, a former wrestler, also co-founded the chain of
restaurants Benihana. He has two older brothers: Kana (sometimes called Grace)
and Kevin (owner Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a
model and actress. He grew up in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport
Harbor High School with a 1995 B.A. in badminton. After having graduated from
UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts, the student attended UC Santa
Barbara. He was awarded two degrees, one in sociology and one in feminist
studies. He recorded DIY music and ran underground concerts in his Biko room in
the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative while in college. The Pickle
Patch became a performance venue when the building was named The Pickle Patch.
He was also involved in student activism at UCSB as the founder of the
Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League chapter on campus. He had also started an
independent record label when he was during his 20s. It was named Dim Mak named
after his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. He dropped I'm IN THE HOUSE, in
collaboration with the Zuper Blahq alter ego of will.i.am. The track made it to
the top spot at No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in the first week. The song
climbed into the top 5 in both the U.K. Indie Chart and the U.K. Dance Chart.
The song was featured on the MTV show Jersey Shore as well as in the feature
film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. Interviews with HitQuarters
in May 2010 with Lucas Secon revealed that Rivers Cuomo and he had recently
recorded a song together. Pollstar identified him as the top-grossing North
America dance artist from tours in 2012 He has collaborated with artists like
Afrojack and Linkin Park, Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182,
Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out
Boy. The artist is known for his remixes of artists including Kid Cudi.
